Pre-Surgical Instructions for Implant and Periodontal Procedures
- Take all prescribed medications as directed (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medications).
- If sedatives are prescribed they should be taken the night before and one hour before the operation. Please note that you should not drive yourself to the appointment if you have taken sedatives and should arrange to be taken home after the surgery.
- Ensure that you have a good meal (breakfast or lunch) before your appointment.
- Aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that are routinely taken should be stopped 5 days prior to the procedure.
- If you are on coumadin or any blood thinning medications, please contact your physician to ensure that you may go off of the medication 6 days to 1 week before the surgery.
- Please note we will ask you to refrain from heavy lifting and vigorous physical activity (i.e. Tennis or aerobics) for 3 days post procedure.
