Pregnancy and Your Oral Health
Pregnancy can bring many changes to your health and body. if you are expecting, it is important to care for your dental wellness and discuss this with your doctor as well.
During pregnancy, women may be more likely to develop gum disease and cavities. Due to the increase of hormones, many women experience increased gum sensitivity and bleeding. Your doctor may recommend increasing the frequency of your dental cleanings during this time. Check with your primary care doctor to keep them updated on your oral health as well.
Additional Considerations...
If you experience new sensitivity, always mention this to your dentist. You may be clenching your jaw due to stress. This discomfort may be reduced with the use of a night guard.
Oral Hygiene is very important during this time and as always, we do recommend an electric toothbrush. Our favourite is the Sonicare Diamond Clean electric toothbrush.
