Coronavirus Updates

Time to start thinking about “What’s next?”

Hopefully we will be entering Phase 2 very soon and this will signify that less of the virus is around, but we still need to keep our guard up! Let me share with you exactly what we have done to protect us all.

One of the major improvements we have done is to install 4 Reme Halo air purification systems to protect the entire office.

These units have the following features and benefits:
• Dual ionizers to reduce airborne particulates (dust, dander, pollen, mold spores)
• Kills up to 99% of bacteria, mold and viruses
• REME® reduces sneeze germs by 99% in the time a sneeze can reach three feet.
• New zinc ions kill 99% of viruses on surfaces
• Unlike portable units that are limited to the room in which they are placed, the REME HALO® provides whole home and building purification.
• Easily integrated with your existing HVAC system. The unit doesn’t take away living space and operates silently.
• Two (2) quick release features for easy, no tool, cell replacement
• Incorporates an adjustable shroud around the REME® cell, which allows customization of the advanced oxidation plasma output.

It has the following applications:

• U.S. Military approved for mold reduction in field hospitals.
• U.S. and International Hospital approval for the fight against infectious diseases: 99% reduction of Staph (MRSA).
• Major U.S. city school reports 20% reduction in absenteeism.
• Tested and approved by the Chinese Government for protection against the deadly SARS virus.
• Approved by the USDA, FSIS, and FDA for use in food processing plants. Employed to reduce microbial contamination of food being processed.
• Cruise lines use it as a safety measure against Norwalk Virus outbreaks

The REME HALO® can be installed in a wide variety of residential, commercial and industrial applications where a ducted HVAC system exists. Here are some examples:

• Single family homes, apartments, condos
• In hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and doctor’s offices
• Schools, daycare centers, colleges and universities
• Fitness centers, locker rooms, athletic facilities
• Office buildings
• Veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, kennels,
• Hotels, motels, and resorts.
• Food processing and manufacturing plants/facilities
• Restaurants, diners, and bars
And to review, some changes and protocols you will see when it is time for your next appointment:
  • Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
  • Other than when you are having dental treatment, wear a face mask at all times.
  • We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
  • We will take your temperature with a hands-free forehead thermometer.
  • Once seated in the dental chair, we will ask you to gargle with hydrogen peroxide.
  • You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines,  since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect. Please ask Elena or Bonnie for cups.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
  • We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
Types of appointments we are now scheduling
  • Emergencies of any kind
  • Patients in which treatment may have been delayed, but could cause more damage by waiting any longer
  • Patients in the middle of treatment and any delay would cause more problems
  • Hygiene appointments for all patients that have active periodontal disease
  • Anybody that has had gum disease in the past, and could develop an emergent problem if a cleaning appointment  is postponed any further
  • As always just call if you have any questions on what can be done at this time

Using guided surgeryDr. William Papadopoulos provides highly successful dental implants at his Brookline, MA practice. Treatment with dental implants is the preferred method to restore missing teeth, as they offer a permanent solution that prevents bone loss in the jaw. With dental implants, your tooth replacement will look, feel, and function just like your own natural teeth.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants consist of screw-like titanium posts that are surgically inserted into your jawbone. Coupled with a restoration such as a crown, bridge, or denture, this treatment replaces the entire structure of the tooth from the root to the crown. Over time, the implants fuse to the jawbone through a process called osseointegration, resulting in a permanent, non-removable solution for missing teeth. Patients missing a single tooth will need just one crown. Because an implant is not required for each missing tooth, patients missing an entire row of teeth may need just six to eight implants.

Treatment with dental implants is the preferred method to restore missing teeth, as they offer a permanent solution that prevents bone loss in the jaw.
Dental implants are the only kind of tooth replacement that integrates with your jawbone to take the place of missing tooth roots.

Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?

If you are missing some or all of your natural teeth, you may be a candidate for dental implants. Additionally, if you currently wear a traditional restoration such as dentures, you may also benefit from this permanent solution. You must have sufficient jawbone tissue to support the implants and be free of periodontal disease and any other oral health conditions prior to your surgery.

The Dental Implant Procedure

Consultation and Planning

During a consultation with Dr. Papadopoulos, he will thoroughly evaluate the state of your oral health. As part of this examination, he will use a cone beam scanner to obtain highly detailed 3D images of your teeth, gums, and jawbone. If you do not have enough bone tissue to support implants, he may recommend a bone graft or sinus lift to prepare you for implant treatment. These are relatively simple procedures that he can perform for you in our office.

Dr. Papadopoulos uses computer-guided surgery techniques to ensure safe and predictable results. The images from the cone beam scanner are integrated into our in-office software to create a digital design for the optimal placement of your implants to support your final restoration and preserve jawbone tissue. When the final design is complete, Dr. Papadopoulos prints it to use as a guide for the surgical placement of your implants.

Surgery

Dr. Papadopoulos will use the surgical guide along with a laser to create precise holes in your gums for the placement of your implants. The implants will be inserted along with a supplement to stimulate bone growth and healing. In most cases, he can provide you with a temporary restoration to wear during the osseointegration phase, which can take three to six months, so that you don’t lose any functionality during this time.

Final Restoration

Once your implants have fully integrated with your jawbone, you can return to our office for the placement of your final, customized restoration. Dr. Papadopoulos offers a wide range of implant-supported restorative options in a variety of materials to meet the needs of our patients.

Benefits of Dental Implants

One of the greatest benefits of dental implants is that they truly improve your oral health by preventing bone loss. The support they provide is also beyond compare. Because implants are a permanent, non-removable solution, you can chew and speak with comfort and confidence. Dental implant-supported restorations also look natural and can dramatically improve your appearance.
