Meet Dr. Pierluigi Balice

Dr. Pierluigi Balice earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) Summa Cum Laude from the University of Bari, Italy. He completed his three-year specialty training at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, where he received a Certificate in Periodontics and a Master of Dental Science degree.

Dr. Balice is a Board-Certified Periodontist and Dental Implant Surgeon. Prior to specializing, he practiced general dentistry in Italy and London, UK, and completed internships at the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain and the University of British Columbia in Canada.

He previously served as a full-time Clinical Professor in the Department of Periodontics at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Dentistry, where he also obtained a second DDS degree, making him dual licensed in the United States and Europe.

Currently, Dr. Balice is a Clinical Faculty member and Lecturer in the Advanced Education Program, Division of Periodontology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He also lectures in the International Implant Program at the New York University College of Dentistry.

Dr. Balice lectures nationally and internationally and has authored peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters focused on peri-implantitis and dental implant biomechanics. He is an active member of several dental organizations in both the United States and Europe and is fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish.
